Chan receives Hillman faculty award

Helen Chan received the Hillman Faculty Award at the Faculty/Staff appreciation dinner on May 9, 2017.

The recipient is chosen by Lehigh trustees for excellence in teaching, research work, or advancing the interests of the university. Nominations are submitted by full-time faculty members.

Chan taught in Austria under a Fullbright scholarship in the fall semester of 2016, and was profiled in a book on successful women in science earlier that same year.

Chan was honored as a leader in her field of materials as reflected by her impressive rate of publications and the scientific impact of her work.  She is widely published in top journals and has been named to ISI Web of Science’s “Highly Cited” researcher list.

Previous recipients of the Hillman Faculty Award in the department include Himanshu Jain (2015), Martin Harmer (2004), Alan Pense (1997), Richard Hertzberg (1993), and Robert Stout (1962).
