Eco-design of multilayer coatings researcher

Applications are invited for a fully funded 3-years PhD position to work on the design of multilayer coatings for durability of steel wires at high temperature, starting on October 1st 2017.

The project points at improving the durability at high-temperature of standard low-cost steel wires through a surface functionalization with an environmentally friendly multilayer coating acting as a barrier to high temperature oxidation and providing increased lifetimes at highest operating temperatures. One of the main challenges is to gather knowledge on the behaviour of these multilayer structures exposed to extreme conditions.

The PhD candidate will work under the supervision of Valerie Parry, Associate Professor (HDR) at the SIMaP laboratory in Grenoble (France).
He/She is expected to strongly interact with other researcher from the oxidation and mechanic groups Celine Pascal, Muriel Braccini, Rafael Estevez and Guillaume Parry.

To apply please send an application cover letter explaining briefly your motivation and interest in this position to valerie.parry@simap.grenoble-inp.fr, also a CV including the transcript of your undergraduate degree, and name and e-mail address of two academic references.
