Barrick wins graduate fellowship

Erin Barrick was selected to receive a Graduate Fellowship Grant from the American Welding Society (AWS) for the 2016 academic year. Her research is titled “Fundamental Studies on Phase Transformations and Mechanical Properties of Fusion Welds in High-Nickel Concentration Naval Steel.” Her advisor is John DuPont.

The AWS fosters university research in joining, recognizing outstanding faculty and student talent. Only one or two students receive the grant each year, and their research funding may be renewed for up to three years.

Grant recipients are encouraged to submit their work for presentation at the annual AWS Professional Program, a week-long conference that takes place during FABTECH Expo, North America’s largest metal forming, fabricating, welding and finishing event.
