Allison Fraser has won an Outstanding Scholar Award from ASM International.
The Outstanding Scholar Awards were established to recognize students who demonstrate exemplary academic and personal achievements as well as interest and potential in metallurgy or materials science and engineering. The awards are funded by the ASM Materials Education Foundation. Three $2000 awards are presented each year.
Since declaring a materials science major, Fraser has worked as a materials technician and in chemistry labs, investigated additive manufacturing of wear-resistant alloys, and created a graduated steel tube to be welded into power plants to avoid premature failure. She also serves as a tour guide for the department.
