Lehigh MSE graduate student Chris Marvel has been awarded the Outstanding Young Member award from ASM International for 2015-2016.
Since 1973, the Lehigh Valley Chapter of ASM has given the award to the most qualified young member in the chapter. To qualify, the member must promote the field of materials, provide service to the chapter through involvement in activities, and be 35 years of age or younger on January 1 of the year awarded.
Marvel’s award citation is “For leading ASM Material Camps in 2014 and 2015 as well as for outstanding material characterization research on Ni-W alloys and on Ti 5553 alloys.”
Many notable Lehigh faculty and alums have been recipients of the Outstanding Young Member award. The complete list of past winners is available from the ASM International – Lehigh Valley Chapter.
Marvel will receive his award during Young Members Night on Thursday, February 11, 2016, at Lehigh University. Chapter plans for that evening include a roundtable discussion focused on job hunting, careers, and interviewing.
ASM International is the world’s largest association of metals-centric materials engineers and scientists.
